For five long years, I worked at a movie rental store. The place was a family owned business with few employees and a large, diverse selection. So, over the years, as any worker would at this type of place, I had the chance to sample quite a bit of movies. By quite a bit, I would say my count was in the thousands. Yes, that many. So, I’ve seen plenty of movies. And overall? Movies are a waste of time, aren’t well done, and are used for so many purposes that nobody seems to care anymore. They just want a good time. Laughing over repugnant, dirty jokes. Seeing a guy get blown to pieces. Enjoying the makeout scene between the two barely clothed main actors. I mean, come on, we’ve seen it all before, right? Still, movies make a lot of money. A lot of really bad movies make a lot of money.
But, there are some movies that I think are worth 2-3 hours of one’s precious life. These movies are powerful, amazing, and overall beautiful. They do things a lot of bad movies also can do – tell stories, contain themes, heroes, villians. But, they do more than that. These movies can make the world’s toughest “macho man” guy tear up at beauty and greatness. They instill a fire deep within a young boy’s heart to fight against all impossible odds and defeat the prevailing, surrounding evil. They make chasing after a woman actually worth chasing. They can do all of these things, while combining amazing visual scenes with beautifully orchestrated music. All in all, they are an intense experience that makes them more than just movies – they are intense experiences of the heart. They have such great value and worth that they wholly redeem movies in my opinion. So, this site will be about those movies with said redeeming value – because life is short. Do you want to waste it watching garbage or do you want to see something glorious?
What this site is for and what it is not for
* The summaries that I write contain the basic plot of the movie. This site is intended to aide you in finding a movie that will be enjoyable to watch, and in some way have a story that makes it worth watching. I have to share some of that story to accomplish my goal.
* This site is to share movies with stories that make them worth watching. These movies have redeeming value. There is something to take away from them, and something to enjoy about them. These movies have a powerful message.
* This site is not for those looking for clean movies. While I stay away from filthy movies, all of the movies mentioned on this website are not pure. They are made by regular men and women. They deal with real issues. Movies that glorify things that aren’t right (hate, racism, sexism, violence, abuse, etc) aren’t mentioned on this site, while movies that may contain those things, but not condone them may be mentioned here.
* This site is not a recommended watching list for youth groups or sunday schools, or even parents trying to find movies for their teenagers. It’s for those who have some discernment, those who may see a movie every once in a while, and don’t want to waste their time.
